Veerle Huijgen - Intuitive artist

My name is Veerle Huijgen, a self-taught Dutch artist with over ten years of experience in creating many forms of art. I live in Nieuwegein, a small town near Utrecht in The Netherlands. My paintings are created intuitively, in a (semi-)abstract manner. They are mostly colourful and vivid.
Of all techniques and media I have used so far, painting with acrylics is one my favorites. I enjoy the process of expression, while creating something completely new. An image that develops over time with each new layer, starting from nothing and intuitively flowing with what comes along as time goes by.
I love to develop the canvas into its final form, changing it with every layer. To let it be surprising and honest.
To me, there is always a simple choice: to courageously go with whatever comes next, or, to focus on making something pretty and polished, while in fact it is actually quite boring in the end. In my experience: it is always the jump into the unknown that makes art special.
